Join us for a conference featuring John and Hillary Ferrer from Mama Bear Apologetics as we sharpen our biblical discernment and become better equipped to stand firm in our faith. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, or caregiver trying to raise discerning kids, or you yourself have been confused on whether a concept is biblical or not, this conference will equip Christians of all ages and seasons of life to sift through ideas, holding fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

9:15 AM | Welcome, Worship, & Session 1 • Linguistic Theft (Hillary Ferrer)
In a culture where terms like "justice" and "equality" are frequently invoked, it's easy to assume these concepts align with biblical teaching. However, these words are often used to introduce ideas that diverge from Scripture. This session will uncover the tactics of linguistic theft, teaching you how to identify when buzzwords are being co-opted for unbiblical purposes and which terms to watch out for.

11:00 AM | Session 2 • Truth, Lies, and the Internet: A Christian Guide to Critical Thinking (John Ferrer)
We live in the "Information Age" but with the amount of media spin, fake news, and propaganda on the internet it's really the "Misinformation Age." As Christians how can we pick through it all, separating the truth from the lies? In this talk we'll frame the task of critical thinking in the context of prayer, spiritual warfare, and Christian discernment. Then we'll zero in on some practical tools for critical thinking. Classically these are known as logical fallacies, but we're really just talking about wisdom and Biblical discernment.

1:15 PM | Session 3 • ROAR Method (Hillary Ferrer)
As believers, we are called to navigate the cultural landscape with both love and conviction. The ROAR method offers a practical framework for discerning the core messages behind cultural narratives and responding with grace and truth. This session will equip us with tools to engage with culture while remaining steadfast in our commitment to Christ.

About the Speakers

Hillary Morgan Ferrer is the founder and president of Mama Bear Apologetics. She feels a burden for providing accessible apologetics resources for busy moms. She is the chief author and editor of the bestselling books Mama Bear Apologetics: Empowering Your Kids to Challenge Cultural Lies,  Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality: Empowering Your Kids to Understand and Live Out God’s Design, and the soon to be released, Honest Prayers for Mama Bears. Two other resources include workbooks that accompany the first two books: Mama Bear Apologetics Study Guide: Empowering Your Kids to Challenge Cultural Lies and Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality Discipleship Workbook. Hillary has her master’s degree in biology and loves helping moms to discern truths and lies in both science and culture. She and her husband, John, have been married for 16 years and minister together as an apologetics team. She can never sneak up on anybody because of her chronic hiccups, which you can hear occasionally in interviews.

Dr. John D. Ferrer is a speaker and researcher for CrossExamined.org. John is also a licensed minister with degrees from Charleston Southern (BA), Southern Evangelical Seminary (MDiv), and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (ThM, PhD). His doctorate is in the philosophy of religion, with a minor in ethics. John is also a teaching fellow with Equal Rights Institute and president of Pella Pro-Life in his hometown of Pella, Iowa. There he resides with his lovely and brilliant wife Hillary Ferrer, founder of Mama Bear Apologetics. Together they specialize in cultural apologetics with an emphasis on family-based apologetic training.
